Notorious gangster Tipsy Malone runs a famed jazz club in 1940's Berkeley. In a secret back room, he hides an underground gambling operation swimming with criminals and creatures of the underworld. Only those trusted friends who have the password can enter Tipsy’s Hideout.
You’re lucky enough to receive an invitation to the Hideout, where you’ll play your luck at poker, chat up jazz-world divas, savor Tipsy’s favorite Italian cuisine, and enjoy classic cocktails at the Garden Cocktail Lounge. But this mix of crooners and cons is a wild bunch, and when a major player gets murdered halfway through the evening, everyone’s a suspect—including you!

About the Experience
Set in the smoky glamour of 1940s Berkeley, this one-of-a-kind, full-length interactive play combines immersive theater and improv comedy with music, cards, and the classic murder mystery format to transport guests to another world, designed to enchant, surprise, and delight.
Plan to arrive at the venue promptly at 5 pm PST to enjoy the entirety of the experience. The evening unfolds across three acts. Act I invites guests to mingle in the Jazz Club, where they can enjoy live music, cocktails, and meet the colorful cast of characters whose secrets will drive one of them to murder!
In Acts II and III, guests descend deeper into the criminal underworld — gaining access to Tipsy Malone's secret backroom gambling den — as the story builds to its shocking climax.
Time is ticking when one of the gang is murdered; the crew must get justice and escape before the police raid the Hideout. Will you solve the mystery in time?

Tipsy Yeti has a full bar, with a wide variety of beer, wine, cocktails, and mocktails available for purchase throughout the entire event. Coffee, tea, juice, soda, and N/A beverages are also available for purchase. Water is complimentary. During the event, an additional bar will be open in the Garden Cocktail Lounge.

Yes! Tipsy Malone’s favorite dishes can be purchased à la carte from the Hideout’s curated menu. For the complete experience, our Patron of the Arts ticket includes a four-course Italian dinner served at the table with “The Family.” In addition, Tipsy Yeti’s full menu is available upon request if you’d like to purchase burgers or Nepali cuisine, which expands options for vegetarian, vegan, low-carb, and gluten-free diets. Please inform your server about any food allergies.

Yes! The glitz and glamour are part of the experience. We understand that everyone doesn’t already have a completely accurate retro outfit in their closet. This is your opportunity to shop for something new or to be thrifty and get creative with what you have. Add a jaunty feather to your cap, throw on a string of fake pearls you saved from Mardi Gras, or borrow a bow tie from an elder. You don’t have to look perfect; you’re already beautiful and your best try is good enough. Have fun with it! (If you have a diagnosed medical condition that requires you to wear modern attire, we fully support your right to protect your health.)

Various types of tickets offer different experiences. Guests at the VIP table will have guaranteed interactions with the main characters, for example. Any ticket holder can purchase the Play a Character Add-On, which comes with character backstory, instructions, and props. Please choose the ticket that best meets your needs and play your character with zeal!

Much like a visit to an arcade, this experience includes a variety of games designed to entertain. Similar to an arcade, winners can turn in chips in exchange for prizes at the end of the evening. Prizes will run the gamut from fun retro-themed accessories, show memorabilia, food and wine baskets, to tickets to VIP experiences. (If that’s not enough, the proceeds from the sale of poker chips support the Arts, so the ultimate prize is the warm, fuzzy feeling you get when you do something fun that also helps the creative community thrive.)
Tipsy’s Hideout features two card tables that are accessible to anyone holding enough chips to play a hand. Rumor has it that there’s another secret poker game somewhere else on site – talk to the right characters and you just might find it.
When a player runs out of chips, they must vacate the table for at least one round, even if they purchase more chips. All games are “dealer’s choice,” and may include Texas hold ‘em, five card draw, seven card stud, and others. A “lucky” chip is worth one round of game-play at whatever the ante is for that particular game (if someone has gone “all-in” on a bet, the “lucky” chip equals the equivalent of that bet). “Lucky” chips can only be used once and will be reclaimed by the dealer after use. Additional chips can be purchased online or onsite.
Gamblers may be asked to relinquish their seats at poker tables if caught cheating, fighting, brandishing a weapon, or talking trash. All operations may be temporarily halted or relocated in the event of a police raid. . . or a murder!
